About the Role

<h2>Cable Design Engineer / Cable Design Head</h2><p>We are seeking a highly skilled Cable Design Engineer or Cable Design Head with 5 to 20 years of experience to lead and manage the design, engineering, and optimization of electrical cable systems for large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. This role involves overseeing cable routing design, ensuring compliance with international standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and reliable electrical infrastructure solutions.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead the cable design engineering team responsible for power, control, and instrumentation cable systems in EPC projects.</li><li>Oversee preparation of cable routing layouts, cable tray designs, underground cable routing, and conduit systems.</li><li>Review and approve cable sizing calculations, voltage drop analysis, short circuit calculations, and cable schedules.</li><li>Ensure all cable designs comply with project specifications, international standards, and safety regulations.</li><li>Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation engineering teams for integrated project execution.</li><li>Manage design deliverables including cable routing drawings, cable block diagrams, installation details, and bill of materials (BOM).</li><li>Lead design reviews, technical meetings, and client coordination throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li>Review vendor technical documentation, cable specifications, and procurement packages.</li><li>Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams to resolve cable installation and routing challenges.</li><li>Monitor project progress, manage engineering resources, and ensure timely delivery of cable design activities.</li><li>Familiar with projects involving EHV cabling, substations, airports, residential buildings, and oil &amp; gas projects.</li><li>Design and develop cable routing paths and wiring harness layouts within 3D CAD environments.</li><li>Create detailed routing models, installation drawings, and cable layout documentation.</li><li>Ensure proper cable routing based on bend radius, spacing, protection, and accessibility requirements.</li><li>Perform interference and clearance analysis to avoid clashes with structural and mechanical components.</li><li>Optimize cable routing for weight reduction, space utilization, and ease of installation and maintenance.</li><li>Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure effective system integration.</li><li>Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including cable lists, routing diagrams, and bill of materials (BOM).</li><li>Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.</li><li>Support prototype builds, testing activities, and resolve installation or design issues during production.</li><li>Participate in design reviews and implement improvements based on project requirements and feedback.</li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li>Engineering degree in a relevant field.</li><li>Required Skills: Cable routing layouts, Technical documentation review, Cable tray designs, Compliance with international standards, Interference and clearance analysis, Cable design engineering, EPC project management, 3D CAD design, Voltage drop analysis, Short circuit calculations.</li><li>Experience with EHV design (132kV experience).</li></ul><h3>Work Arrangements</h3><ul><li>Type: Full-Time</li><li>Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India</li></ul>
